Volunteer With Us

At the UT Stem Outreach Center, we create engaging and impactful educational STEM experiences for kids. Our programs range from robot competitions to after school programs!

How Do I Become A Volunteer?

  • Fill out the volunteer interest form
  • Receive an email from Droplet with necessary forms
  • Complete a background check through Utah Tech and First Lego League (if applicable)
  • Complete any necessary trainings
  • Make stem magic!

What Volunteer Opportunities Are There?

VEX

First Lego League*

  • Southern Utah Scrimmage: December 6th, Judges & Refs, 8am-3pm
  • Explorefest: December 13th, Judges, 8am-2pm
  • Southern Utah Qualifier: January 17th, Judges & Refs, 7am-4pm

Roles include match scorekeeper, team queuer, and setup/cleanup.

Vex Robotics

  • Fall VR5C Tournament: December 13th, Judges, 8am-2pm
  • Spring VR5C Tournament: December 6th, Judges & Refs, 8am-3pm

Roles include match scorekeepers, judges for team engineering design notebooks, team queuer, and setup/cleanup.

Stem and the Arts Nights

September 18th, October 23rd, November 6th, January 22nd February 5th, March 19th, April 23rd, and May 14th. 5:00 pm-8:00 pm Schools/Locations TBA.
Run an exciting STEM activity for families at a local elementary school.

3rd Grade Classroom Visits

Wednesdays, 9:30am – 11:30am, Various Schools
Assist our center admins to teach 3rd graders the wonders of stem! Join us to engage classes in computer science, making, and biology as they study life cycles.

Stem Center Fieldtrips

Thursdays, 9:30am – 1:30pm, Stem Outreach Center at Utah Tech
Engage local students in activities here at the Stem Outreach Center! Assist the Makerspace, the Dinosaur Discovery Site, or our team in running educational rotations for classes.

What do Volunteers Do?

Help us run robot competitions, join us for monthly STEM nights, support our weekly class visits, or engage in our bi-monthly field trips!

With multiple volunteer roles available across diverse stem events, pick which suits your schedule and passions!

How much time do volunteers commit?

From 5 hours per year to 100+! Commit for one academic year at a time or for whichever events spark your interest!
