Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment is a great opportunity for a high school student to earn college/university credits which will also fill high school requirements for graduation. For example, if a students takes ENGL 1010 through Concurrent Enrollment, it will also meet the student’s Senior English requirement. It is a state funded program which funds the majority of the cost but each student contributes just $5 partial tuition per credit hour. To get started, a student should visit with their high school counselor and make sure that enrollment in university courses is part of your CCR.

The College of Science, Engineering, and Technology has developed pipelines to help students reach their educational goals. Explore the pipelines below:

Outdoor Leadership Academy (OLA)

The Outdoor Leadership Academy is funded by the National Park Service to provide outdoor experiences for underrepresented youth.

We offer a diverse series of activities for regional high school and college students throughout the calendar year. Programs range from a unique college orientation experience to camping and white water rafting, to short presentations and programs about exploring the amazing natural environment in our region and beyond.

Registration for individual activities is generally restricted by age and sometimes by school. Students from UT, SUU, UNLV and the College of Southern Nevada as well as students from high schools our target region are welcome to participate.

If you are a school teacher or club advisor and would like to talk to us about sponsoring a program, please contact us at ola@utahtech.edu.

Success Academy

SUCCESS ACADEMY: The mission of SUCCESS Academy, an Early College High School, is to empower, encourage, and engage ALL students in the pursuit of Academic Excellence and Citizenship. Early college high schools are designed to provide a rigorous academic setting that allows students to earn their Associate’s degrees at the same time they earn their high school diplomas.

SUCCESS Academy has two campuses: one at Southern Utah University and one at Utah Tech University. SUCCESS Academy has a unique partnership with the Iron and Washington County School Districts which provides an early college experience without robbing students of a “normal” high school experience. Our partnerships allow students to attend SUCCESS Academy for half of their school day, where they enroll in both college prep and actual college courses. Students also attend their boundary school (the high school within the boundaries of the student’s home address) for the other half of their school day, where they enroll in classes such as fine arts, applied technology, and physical education. This allows students to fully participate in sports, clubs, and extra-curricular opportunities with their boundary high school while challenging themselves academically by earning their Associate’s degree through SUCCESS Academy.

UT’s internship program offers students hands-on learning in a professional environment that is directly related to their degree. Employers have an opportunity to connect with motivated students, and it is well documented that companies around the world often recruit from their pool of talented interns. Visit our internship page to learn why completing an internship is a critical step in your college education and career development. The purpose of an internship is to gain relevant work experience, to apply skills and knowledge learned in school, and to gain exposure to jobs within your industry. Internships should generally be a stepping stone into your future career.
